Texas Stars Announce Opening Night Roster
AHL Affiliate of NHL's Dallas Stars
Based in Cedar Park, Texas
CEDAR PARK, Texas -- The Texas Stars, the American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, announced their opening night roster today. The team will begin the 2023-24 season on Friday, October 14, at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park against the San Antonio Rampage.
The Stars' opening night roster features a mix of veterans and up-and-coming players. Leading the way are forwards Riley Barber, Michael Mersch, and Thomas Harley. Barber was the Stars' leading scorer last season with 27 goals and 53 points. Mersch is a veteran of over 300 NHL games, and Harley is a top prospect who made his NHL debut last season.
On the back end, the Stars will be led by captain Gavin Bayreuther and fellow defensemen Ryan Shea and Matt Kiersted. Bayreuther has been a mainstay on the Stars' blue line for the past four seasons, while Shea and Kiersted are both former NHLers.
In goal, the Stars will rely on veteran netminder Landon Bow and rookie Adam Scheel. Bow has over 100 AHL wins, while Scheel is a former standout at the University of North Dakota.
The Stars are excited to begin the season and are looking to build on their success from last year. The team reached the Calder Cup playoffs for the fourth time in the past five seasons last year, and they are hoping to make a deep run this year.
